It’s nearing the end of August, and at Jervis Bay Wild, that means we will soon be offering our fantastic South Coast Passage tour.
Have you heard of it?
Presented from September through April, the South Coast Passage is a unique and exciting cruise through some of Jervis Bay’s most spectacular coastline. Read on to find out why this is a “must do” activity in the region.
What’s Special About the South Coast Passage?
We offer a variety of excellent options at Jervis Bay Wild, allowing you the chance to glimpse amazing wildlife up close and personal in their natural habitat. But what makes the South Coast Passage extra special?
First, the South Coast Passage covers a larger area than any of our other eco-cruises. Beginning in Currarong, to the north, your journey lasts for 2.5 hours (slightly longer than the other tours) and takes you a great distance, where you finally disembark in Huskisson. You see a lot of sights on this trip!
*Note: Jervis Bay Wild has a courtesy bus available to transport you between Huskisson and Currarong, either prior to departure or upon your return. This is for the convenience of our guests and allows you to park your vehicle in either location.
A Fun Vessel, Unforgettable Sights
What also sets the South Coast Passage apart is the boat on which you travel. Our dolphin eco-cruise, whale watching tour, and others, involve our large, comfortable vessels the Port Venture and Wild Essence. On this particular adventure, however, you are treated to a ride in a Rigid Inflatable Boat, an open-aired vessel that is a delightful experience.
A slightly smaller boat with a capacity for fewer passengers, you’ll have a more personalised experience on your South Coast Passage tour. The open air quality also enables you to feel truly close to nature (and snap great photos). Best of all, this sleek and fun vessel has the ability to manoeuvre in and out amongst the rugged sea caves of the Beecroft Peninsula. This gives you the incredible opportunity to be right up against these impressive, imposing land masses. You’ll surely feel like a true explorer out along the unspoilt coastline.
Wildlife Abounds
Many of our other eco-tours at Jervis Bay Wild are focused primarily on spotting particular wildlife. In truth, any cruise you take with us gives you the chance to see a diverse range of area marine and birdlife. The South Coast Passage emphasises breathtaking scenery and discovering sea caves, cliffs, and other natural formations. However, there is an abundance of wildlife in the areas we visit during this tour, and you are very likely to see dolphins, humpback whales (during their migratory season), birds, and especially Australian fur seals. Our South Coast Passage itinerary takes us right by their colony at Drum and Drumsticks.
