The Secret Life Of Whales

In preparation for whale watching season, we’ve been reading a fascinating books about whales and we just had to share it with you. Marine biologist and co-founder of the Centre for Whale Research (Western Australia), Micheline Jenner, has been studying whales for thirty years and has had many extraordinary encounters with these incredible creatures. She has been pooped on, sung too and witnessed a humpback giving birth. In her new book, published late last year, Micheline describes these encounters and reveal fascinating information about how whales live.

Whale Watching Up Close

Can you imagine witnessing a humpback calf being lifted out of the water by its mother to take its first breath? How about a whale embracing your boat with its fins? We know that whales are intelligent and curious, but the unique encounters featured in The Secret Life Of Whales reveal behaviours very few people have witnessed. The book is easy to read and full of insightful observations about the unknown world of the humpback, blue and pygmy whale. It even come with an endorsement from Tim Winton:

“Australia’s whales are lucky to have had observers, admirers and protectors like Micheline Jenner. But so are the citizens of this island nation, for the Jenners have not only advanced our scientific knowledge, they’ve enriched our culture.”, Tim Winton
