Is a weekend enough time to experience the magic of Jervis Bay? Ideally, every destination deserves weeks and months of exploration, but who’s got that kind of time! A weekend getaway is a perfect amount of time to delve into the very best Jervis Bay has to offer. With our 48 hour itinerary (give or take a few hours!), you’ll be prepared to make the most of those few days in the region. Read on for your weekend plans!
Friday Evening
You’ll arrive in the Jervis Bay region in the early evening. After checking into one of the area’s best accommodation options, you can head out to enjoy a relaxing dinner. Let’s keep it casual on Friday night. Tonight, you’ll be dining at Faro Bianco for pizza and pasta. This laidback eatery is BYO, so grab a great wine from the local shop and pop in for dinner. Then, get a good night’s rest for a busy day on Saturday.
Saturday
You’ll be rising a bit early to get a head start on an adventure-filled day! You’ll head into Huskisson for breakfast and coffee at the Hyams Beach Cafe. This is a popular local spot where you can depend on a yummy bite to fuel you up. Then it’s off to the Jervis Bay Wild homebase to get on board for your eco cruise! You’ll be heading out mid-morning on a dolphin cruise, whale watch, or perhaps on the South Coast Passage–the choice is yours.
You’ll spend a couple of hours seeing the delights of coastal Jervis Bay. From towering sea cliffs to stunning beaches, the natural beauty will dance before your eyes. And of course, there will be plenty of wildlife sightings. What an adventure!
Upon your return, you can enjoy a delicious lunch right at Jervis Bay Wild’s own dockside cafe. A great menu—and awesome views—await.
Now it’s time to stretch your legs. You can choose either to hire bikes and enjoy a cycle around Huskisson, or take a stroll down the White Sands Walk. Both allow you the chance to take in more of the nature in our region.
Following your walk or your cycle ride, get ready to explore a bit of downtown Huskisson. Book shops, antique stores, and art galleries invite you to browse (and maybe pick up a souvenir). There’s also the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum, an excellent choice for history buffs.
As the day winds down, you’ll head back to your accommodation to rest and refresh. Dinner is next!
Saturday Dinner
We recommend having your splurge dinner on Saturday night. There are many great local choices, but for a truly unique experience, we suggest heading out to The Gunyah Restaurant at Paperbark Camp. This is superb dining with a rotating menu and an incredible ambiance. Set up in the treetops and lit by candles, this is a meal that will be truly romantic and memorable.
Sunday
Hope you had a great night’s sleep! Today will be a bit less action packed, but you’ll still get the chance to see some of the best of Jervis Bay.
After breakfast (why not check out Huskisson Bakery & Cafe for some fresh pies?), you’ll be going to the beach! The white sand shores of Jervis Bay are a must-see. Get ready to spend a few hours oceanside. You could even pack a picnic. Choose from one of the top beaches and have fun! Don’t forget the suncream.
Next on the docket is a laidback afternoon of wine tasting. The region boasts many tempting wineries, and it’s easy to do a self-drive tour, or you can sign up for a guided excursion. The choice is yours. Pick out a bottle of your favourite to bring home.
Departure
And now it’s just about time to pack up and leave. You’ve done a lot in only a couple of days, and made amazing memories. Safe travels back home! And don’t forget—Jervis Bay is always there for your next visit!
