Visit A Museum
Lovers of aviation will enjoy the Fleet Air Arm Museum. Perfect for both adults and children, there are exhibits, aircraft, and other aviation relics in the large museum space and air hangar. From the verandah, you can also grab a glimpse of the HMAS Albatross.
Jervis Bay Maritime Museum is a great way to learn more about the area’s maritime history and aboriginal culture. There are also temporary exhibits, so there is always something new to discover at the museum. If you do happen to be there on a sunny day, the outdoor markets occur on the first Saturday of every month, with crafts, local produce, and more.
Movie Time
For the perfect rainy-day activity, head to Huskisson Pictures and take in a film. This cinema was built in 1913, and its unique vintage look, paired with some great films, makes this a wonderful place to spend an afternoon.
Another option is the Roxy Cinema in Nowra. Housed in an art deco, heritage-listed building, the Roxy opened in 1935 and is still a family-owned and operated business. The interior has been updated to meet modern standards with the latest digital technology and super comfy seats, but the facade remains almost unchanged.
Eat and Drink
The NSW South Coast is blessed with a food and wine culture to rival anywhere in the world. Local food and wine tours are a great way to spend a rainy day in Jervis Bay. You’ll keep mostly dry on your transportation, and will enjoy tasting the region’s most delicious wines and regional specialities.
There are also a number of impressive restaurants in Huskisson and plenty of cafes serving great coffee and tasty breakfasts and lunches.
