10 Reasons We Love Wildlife

Let’s be honest. Jervis Bay, the Shoalhaven, and the entire South Coast are stunning regions. With natural wonders, shopping, dining, arts, culture, and history, you could spend your entire life here and never see it all. But when visitors flock to the area, time and time again, what is the #1 thing that they come to see? You may have guessed it: our wildlife!

Jervis Bay is incredibly lucky. Our spectacular scenic location is not only serene and captivating, but it is also the natural habitat of dozens upon dozens of species of marine, land, and bird life. At Jervis Bay Wild, we are pretty crazy about the many species who call this region home. There are so many reasons we think you should come and join us on an eco cruise and celebrate our resident fauna. Here are 10 reasons you can’t deny!

1. They’re just plain cute!

Simply put, our local dolphins, tropical fish, birds, and even the sharks are mighty adorable!

2. Wildlife comes in all shapes, sizes, and colours.

When you’re out in nature, you will marvel at the huge variety of shades and shapes that exist. From the tiniest and brightest tropical birds to the largest, heaving whales, wildlife is nothing short of unbelievable.

3. Animals bring happiness and relieve stress.

Research shows that just being close to animals can reduce tension and promote a feeling of wellbeing. (Of course, this might not be the case when you’re next to a grizzly bear!) Bu safely onboard our Jervis Bay Wild vessels, you can watch the friendly and pleasant dolphins swim around the bow and keep your eye out for our other resident species.

4. We are fascinated by their endless intelligence.

The wildlife in Jervis Bay teach us something new every single day. It’s incredible to see how keen and intelligent the bottlenose dolphins, Australian fur seals, and other local creatures are. It’s a great reminder that we share this world with them and that they are quite capable and impressive. We can’t wait to see what they’ll do next.

5. They create beautiful shapes in the air and in the water.

Simple and serene, watching wildlife can be akin to witnessing an art demonstration. They move with grace and ease through the water and through the sky, and witnessing these patterns and movements can be a soothing and enjoyable activity. Just another reason we love wildlife.

6. Wildlife reminds us to be humble.

As human beings, we often feel that we are the most powerful mammals on the planet. It many ways, we are, but without tools and technology, would we be as capable as wild animals? It’s hard to say. But one thing is certain: watching wildlife in their territory offers a gentle reminder to be humble about your human strength and dominance.

7. They are like us!

Wildlife, especially dolphins and whales, can feel so very different from us as people. But in truth, they are not so different than you and I. What similarities and differences can you point out? It’s a wonderful feeling to see these animals in their natural habitat and remind yourself of your deep connection to all living things.

8. Wildlife lets you witness power, strength, and elegance.

You see other humans everyday, but you probably don’t see incredible wildlife. On our eco cruises you’ll see mighty humpback whales glide through the water, watch agile fur seals race for their next meal, and witness dolphins leap and play beside the bow. There’s never a moment when the majestic beauty of these creatures isn’t on display.

9. Wildlife brings you closer to nature.

Put down your mobile phone and take a look around you. This planet is teeming with life, and there is so much to experience. Wildlife are amazing enough that they can help remind you about your roots here on earth.

10. It’s good to be surprised once in awhile.

You may think you’ve seen everything. With advanced technology, high-action films, and the ability to gain knowledge with the touch of a button, there are less surprises in life. Well, wildlife are unpredictable and awe-inspiring. Climb aboard one of our eco tours and let yourself be swept away by the unexpected.
