How Can We Protect Our Wildlife?

At Jervis Bay Wild, there are two things at the top of our list: 1. the safety and satisfaction of our guests, and 2. the safety and protection of our wildlife. The dolphins, whales, and other incredible creatures in New South Wales are the purpose behind everything we do. Our tours are built to educate, inspire, and celebrate the beautiful natural diversity of this region. This is why our organisation is committed to sustainable practices and environmental protection. It’s vitally important that our local species have a habitat in which they can survive and thrive. And there is always more that can be done. Each and every day, we ask ourselves, how can we protect our wildlife?

Saving Our Species

NSW National Parks have developed a unique and beneficial program known as Saving Our Species to assist Australian animals and plants who are threatened with extinction. If you are an Australian resident, Saving Our Species welcomes the involvement of community members. There are countless other programs around the country that work towards similar objectives.

Choose Eco-Tourism Opportunities

In your travels, a great step you can take to help conserve and preserve wildlife is to actively seek out eco-friendly operations. Whenever you have a business that deals directly with wildlife, it is worth some research to ensure they are working towards the good of the species and practicing sustainable, eco-friendly practices as much as possible. At Jervis Bay Wild, you can feel confident that we are one of those organisations. Our commitment is to sustainability and wildlife/environmental protection in everything that we do. Our eco tours observe dolphins, whales, fur seals, and other wildlife from a safe and respectful distance. We always recognise that we are visitors in the animals’ natural habitat, entering with care and leaving it just as it was when we came.

Small Steps from Everyone

All of us can contribute in small but meaningful ways to help protect our wildlife. And remember, Australian animals are not only found in our oceans, but are found in all areas of the country, from high mountains to dry desert regions.

You can encourage natural habitats in your own backyard or in that of a neighbouring farm. This can provide space for animals to live happily. In your own home, recycle whenever possible, and consider starting a compost pile. When placed in your garden, the compost will help plant life thrive, providing abundant food for wildlife (and for your family).

In your own community, volunteer at a local park or a conservation organisation. This is a great activity you can do with the entire family. If you don’t have time to volunteer, consider making a modest donation to any one of the outstanding wildlife protection groups in Australia.

Celebrate Wildlife

One of the best and easiest ways to protect our wildlife is to celebrate them and encourage others to do the same. Come join us on a fun and exciting eco cruise in Jervis Bay, and learn more about the species that call these waters home.
